Milligan Island - Unpowered Site 36: Peaceful, Beachside Camping

Opened in December 2016, Milligan Island Eco Campsite is a unique and environmentally conscious camping destination located between Leeman and Green Head. This eco-friendly campsite offers a tranquil and nature-focused experience for visitors looking to reconnect with the natural world.

As a camping node, Milligan Island emphasizes sustainable practices and responsible camping. Visitors are encouraged to follow Leave No Trace principles, ensuring they leave the environment as they found it. Proper waste management and minimizing impact on the natural surroundings are essential aspects of the camping node's philosophy.

One of the highlights of camping at Milligan Island Camping Node is the opportunity to engage in a variety of outdoor activities. The area offers excellent fishing, boating, and swimming opportunities. NO FIRES ARE PERMITTED AT ANY TIME Free dump points are located in both Leeman & Green Head townsites. Beach access is available to licensed vehicles PLEASE stick to the designated access tracks.

SITE 36 is 13M WIDE and 13M DEEP

The fee is $30 per site, per night for up to six people, with children under 12 staying free. As this is an eco-tourist site, there is no running water or power available.

Access is available to all vehicles via a gravel road. All site are large and can comfortably fit Campervans, caravans and camper trailers. Sites have compacted surfaces and may require extra tools to insert tent pegs (tip: a drill and drill bit works great.)

Pets are permitted at Milligan Island, but they must be kept on a lead at all times and cleaned up after to help protect the environment and ensure a pleasant experience for all campers and visitors.

This is a public facility designated for caravan, camper, or tent parking. You are welcome to bring your own caravan, camper, or tent to sleep in. Please note that no indoor beds or sleeping accommodations are provided on-site.

  Stayed here ( bay 36 ) for 3 nights. Had a spacious, level site without puddles even with some torrential rain. Ablution block was, as others have described, spotless. Online booking was simple and straightforward. WE will, without doubt be returning. Excellent facility, all credit to Coorow shire.

  The location is amazing, beautiful ocean, beaches and points. Well looked after.
  Practically, very well looked after long drop toilets, large sites, but no water and poor Telstra (only)phone reception. There is a township 5km away, should you forget minor things or need food and water.
  Definitely recommend Milligans for swimming, fishing, kayaking, paddling and walking.

  It was a camp sites not a dwelling. Sites were very spacious & well set out. Ours was the shortest walk to the beautiful beach ( site 34). The amenities were exceptional as well as provision for rubbish & recycling. Thanks for providing this terrific facility.

  As with many other campers and travellers, we disagree with the new online booking system. It makes being spontaneous or doing anything last minute very difficult. If you struggle with reception, again, very difficult. Thankfully, unlike many other places you had pictures of the sites so you can mostly tell if your rig will fit. If you do not have a credit card then staying in these places is almost impossible. Then there are what are now known as ‘ghost campers’ who book way in advance, just in case and never stay as the refund isn’t worth worrying about or you can’t cancel last minute. It means many sites are empty but cannot be stayed in at all or even last minute as you cannot ‘rock up’. The system in Coronation beach where you pay onsite is the more preferable option (other than hosts which is best) as you can pick your site and pay with the onsite machine. Most people hate the new online system that is a statewide issue with seemingly no resolution in site and Im not sure how many are being honest about this issue and speaking up. Sometimes you can stay as there are ‘free’ sites, but they are ‘booked’ or theres no reception at the campsite if you get there and need to book.

  A lovely spot, protected from the wind. Would be lovely to come back in the warmer weather & longer stay for a swim, paddle & snorkel. Would use this camping spot again for overnight stopovers.
